K-Solo Accuses Naira Marley Of Involvement In Mohbad’s Death

Veteran Nigerian record producer, Solomon Oyeniyi, popularly known as K-Solo, has alleged that rapper, Naira Marley, has a hand in the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in a controversial manner. According to some reports, he died from an ear infection after receiving an injection at a hospital. However, some sources claimed that he was killed by his former label mate, Samlarry, who allegedly stabbed him in the neck during a heated argument.

Speaking on Channels TV’s programme, Rubbin’ Minds, K-Solo insisted that Naira Marley was involved in the death of the 27-year-old singer. He said that Naira Marley, who was the founder and CEO of Marlian Records, failed to protect Mohbad from being bullied and threatened by Samlarry and other members of the label.

He said, “Naira Marley is involved [in Mohbad’s death]. So, he cannot tell me he is not involved. He has a hand in his death. Somebody can’t be under your label and he is being bullied every day and you never came out to say anything. And you said you don’t know anything about it. You’re putting up a statement? Everybody can put up a statement. Naira Marley has an involvement in it. He can’t tell me no.”

K-Solo also challenged Naira Marley to come back to Nigeria and defend himself. Said that Naira Marley, who was currently in the UK, should turn himself in to the police and clear his name. He said that Naira Marley knew about the murder and was trying to cover it up.

He said, “If I were Naira Marley, he should turn up himself. Come into this country, come and defend yourself. Put yourself out. Samlarry does not have anything to say. That one can be on the run forever because you can see his own evidence over your face. There are pictures. He cannot say that they are doctored. So, Naira Marley can never tell me he is not part of this. Anybody that is in his team that is still fooling him or telling him lies, they should better stop right now. He needs to come out and defend himself.”

K-Solo also said that he was not afraid of Naira Marley or his fans, and that he was ready to face any legal action he might take against him. He said that he was speaking out to expose Naira Marley’s hypocrisy and to demand justice for Mohbad.

He said, “I’m not going to say because it is still being alleged, it’s not what you can say yet. Yes, I can say it is being alleged. But you know what? I can say it to his face; he knows about this. Let him come out and wash himself clean and say, ‘I, Naira Marley, I’m not involved in this.’ Then let the police do their due diligence like the English they used.”

Naira Marley has not responded to K-Solo’s allegations as of the time of this report. He only posted a statement on his Instagram page on September 13, expressing his condolences to Mohbad’s family and fans. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of my brother Mohbad. And again, he was a talented and hardworking artiste who had a bright future ahead of him. He was like a son to me and I will always cherish the moments we shared together. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. Rest in peace Imole.”

Mohbad was one of the rising stars of the Nigerian music industry. He joined Marlian Records in 2019 and released several hit songs such as Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) with Rexxie. Also, he won the Best Street Hop Artiste award at the 2022 Headies. He is survived by his wife Wunmi and his son Liam.
