Kidney Harvester Goes Mad in Police Cell

A doctor who allegedly removed a woman’s kidney in Jos, Plateau State capital, has been admitted to the psychiatric unit of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) after exhibiting traces of mental disorder in the police cell.

Noah Kekere, who runs Murna Clinic and Maternity in Yanshanu Community of Jos North Local Government Area, was arrested on Wednesday following a report lodged at the Nasarawa Gown police division by Mrs. Kehinde Kamal, who claimed that Kekere removed her right kidney during an operation in 2018.

The state police command had earlier confirmed the arrest of the suspected harvester and said he would be charged to court after investigation.

However, on Saturday evening, Kekere started tearing his clothes in the cell and behaving like a “mad” person, according to a source from the police headquarters. He was heard screaming, “they want to silence my daughter”.

The police rushed him to JUTH in handcuff, where he was admitted at the psychiatric department. A source from the hospital told Pristinegist that Kekere was still yelling and shouting when he arrived.

There is heavy police presence around the psychiatric unit of the hospital, as the police await the medical report on Kekere’s mental condition.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, did not respond to inquiries by our correspondent.

Pristinegist gathered that Kekere had been carrying out medical treatment, including surgery, for more than two decades at his clinic. He is accused of harvesting organs from unsuspecting patients and selling them to buyers.
