‘KING OF ASSIST’: How La Planet Sport Academia Graduate, Alabi Jojo Inspired Elkanemi Warriors Promotion To NPFL

History was made on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 as El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri secured their promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The team ably led by the great tactician, Coach Aliyu Zubair defeated Sokoto United 4-1 in their last game of the NNL Super 8 to seal their promotion back to the Premier league.

Elkanemi Warriors had an impressive season and finished top of the NNL Northern conference Group C to pick the Super 8 ticket.

However, one football prodigy was at the heart of this notable achievement of the Borno State owned team- his name is Alabi Sulyman Jojo.

Alabi Jojo is a graduate of La Planet Sport Academia. He was scouted from Champions FC in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.

The young and mercurial midfielder is one of the many graduates of La Planet Sport Academia flying the flag of the Academy high across the world.

“Two ‘assists’ from me send us back to the Premier League”- A delighted Alabi Jojo posted on his social media page after his team 4-1 victory over Sokoto United on Wednesday.

The assists from Jojo was one of the major inspiration behind the eventual success of the Borno State owned team.

Jojo provided the assist for the Warriors’ equaliser against Sokoto United- thus pushing his team back to contest and further open the door for the eventual victory.

Sealing it up the game for Elkanemi was the penalty that gave them the fourth goal in the game after Jojo was fouled inside the yard.

Meanwhile, he had earlier played a pivotal role in his team’s 2-1 triumph over Sporting Supreme in their second game of the NNL Super 8.

Alabi, whose late father was also footballer would be fondly remembered by the fans of the team for also providing the assist for their only and winning goal in the quarter final of the President Federation Cup where they defeated Shooting Stars 1-0 to pick up the semifinal ticket.

Making history with Elkanemi Warriors is one of the proudest moment of the Ilorin-born footballer whose potentials is waiting to be further explored both within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

Alabi said “I am very happy with this achievement. It’s one of my proudest moments on earth. It’s a collective effort of the management,coaches and players that has pushed us this far.

“I can’t wait to play in the elite league in Nigeria. It has always been a dream. I look forward to the experience next season” he remarked.

Alabi also expressed his gratitude to the Technical Adviser of the club, Coach Aliyu Zubair for the confidence reposed in him.

Coach Zubair would also be fondly remembered for promoting Gombe United back to the NPFL a few years ago.

Meanwhile, Elkanemi Warriors will be looking forward to picking up the ticket to the final of the Federation Cup when they face Kebbi United in the Semifinal in Abuja in June 20th, 2024.
