Kwara: Over 66,000 Pupils Sit For Common Entrance Examination

Over 66,000 Primary six pupils sat for the Common Entrance (Placement) Examination into Junior Secondary School classes in Kwara State when the schools open for the 2023/2024 in September this year.

According to a statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Peter Amogbonjaye, the state Common Entrance Examination, which took place across the 16 local government areas of the state, was conducted peacefully.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, who lauded the conduct of this year’s placement examination, charged teachers in the state to continue to put in their best towards improving the standard of education in the state.

She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to reforming the state’s educational system.

The head of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, Abdukadir Sheu, also spoke and praised this year’s placement test as one of the best.

He emphasized that the state government should be applauded for making a bold move to reform the industry, noting that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration had outperformed previous administrations in the state in the education sector.

Adebayo Idowu, one of the students who took the placement test at Government Secondary School in Ilorin, expressed pleasure with the way the test was handled and hoped to achieve the required score for the top school.

St. Anthony Secondary School, Government High School, Adeta, and United Community Secondary School are among the institutions the Permanent Secretary has visited.

Other schools in the Ilorin metropolis include Government Secondary School, Cherubim and Seraphim College, Bishop Smith Memorial College, and Queen Elizabeth School.
