Kwara Products: Coach Ali, Jojo, Azeez For Continental As El-Kanemi Wins 2024 President Federation Cup

El-Kanemi Warriors, guided by Technical Adviser Coach Ali Zubair, clinched the 2024 President Federation Cup today in a spectacular 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium in Lagos. This triumph not only marks a historic achievement but also secures their place in the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup.

Coach Ali Zubair, a seasoned tactician, made a bold move in 2023 by transitioning from NPFL’s Gombe United to the NNL side El-Kanemi Warriors. Initially met with skepticism, his decision has proven to be a masterstroke. Drawing from his roots, Zubair returned to his hometown to scout fresh talent, discovering standout players like Suleiman Alabi Jojo, a product of Laplanet FA, and Azeez Yusuf from Kwara Football Academy (KFA).

After a series of rigorous trials and training sessions in Maiduguri, Jojo and Azeez secured their spots on the team. Their inclusion has been pivotal in El-Kanemi’s successful campaign, which saw them earn promotion to the NPFL for the 2024/2025 season.

The final match against Abia Warriors was a testament to El-Kanemi’s dominance and skill. Despite being the underdogs, the team displayed exceptional prowess, earning admiration from fans and critics alike. El-Kanemi seized control of the match from the onset, showcasing a high level of football artistry.

A critical moment came early in the game when El-Kanemi was awarded a penalty, but Nasiru Saliu missed the opportunity to take the lead. Undeterred, Saliu redeemed himself by scoring a well-placed goal at the half-hour mark, giving El-Kanemi a deserved lead.

Abia Warriors made several substitutions in the second half, but they couldn’t turn the tide. El-Kanemi’s dominance continued, with Nasiru Saliu doubling the lead in the 68th minute, effectively sealing the victory.

This win marks El-Kanemi Warriors’ third President Federation Cup title, having previously won in 1991 and 1992. Their remarkable season saw them achieve a treble: promotion to the NPFL, winning the President Federation Cup, and securing a continental ticket.

As El-Kanemi Warriors prepare to represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup, Coach Ali Zubair, Jojo, and Azeez stand as shining examples of Kwara State’s rich football talent. Their journey from local prospects to national champions is a story of dedication, resilience, and exceptional skill, inspiring future generations of Nigerian footballers.
