The Lagos State Police Command is intensifying its investigation into the death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, with a focus on Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry.
Sam Larry willingly complied with a police summons on Thursday night and has been extensively questioned by investigators regarding his conflicts with the deceased musician.
Presently, Sam Larry remains in custody at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters and has not yet engaged legal representation.
However, It is highly likely that he will remain in police custody until the upcoming Monday.
A confidential security source disclosed that Sam Larry was apprehended at Murtala Muhammed Airport upon his return from Kenya on Thursday night.
He was subsequently transported to the Lagos Command Headquarters in Ikeja for interrogation.
In an exclusive interview with the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, he emphasized that the outcome of the police inquiry will determine the course of action concerning Sam Larry.
Nevertheless, Hundeyin refrained from revealing the specifics of Sam Larry’s statements to the police, noting that the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, will address the media on this matter shortly.
Hundeyin stated, “Sam Larry is currently in our custody. However, I cannot disclose our plans at this moment as he remains under investigation. Our next steps will be contingent on the findings of our investigation. I am unable to divulge the contents of his statement. The Commissioner of Police will address the media regarding this matter soon, and then I will be able to provide an update on our progress.”
Earlier on Thursday night, SP Hundeyin had affirmed that Sam Larry was being held in police custody and cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Prior to this, both Sam Larry and the singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, had been summoned by the police for questioning in connection with Mohbad’s passing.
It is noteworthy that the police had confirmed the completion of the autopsy on Mohbad, with results still pending, after the exhumation of the deceased singer’s remains by a joint team of the Nigeria Police Force and healthcare professionals.
Additionally, the nurse who allegedly administered an injection to the deceased singer prior to his demise on September 12 has been apprehended by the police.
