Wizkid opens up about his grief and music after losing his mother

Nigerian superstar Wizkid has shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram story, revealing that he has been struggling with the loss of his mother. The singer, who recently released his fourth studio album Made in Lagos, said that he made the album days after his mother passed away and that life has been meaningless since then.

“Sometimes you got to let everything go… Work with God! Made Idk days after I lost my mum. life has been meaningless! But we dey!” The Grammy winner wrote on his story, accompanied by a photo of him wearing a mask and sunglasses.

Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, lost his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, in February 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He had previously dedicated his song “Mummy Mi” to her and often expressed his love and gratitude for her on social media.

Fans and fellow celebrities have reacted to Wizkid’s post with sympathy and support, sending him messages of condolence and encouragement. Some also expressed their concern about his mental health and urged him to seek professional help if needed.
