Lover’s Rage: Man Decapitates Girlfriend and Mother of His Child in Bayelsa
A man identified only as Tony has been arrested for allegedly beheading his girlfriend and mother of his child in Kabeama community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The gruesome incident occurred around 3am on Saturday, February 3, 2024, according to neighbours who discovered the severed head of the victim, Maxuel Ebibraladei, at dawn.
Tony was reportedly caught by residents before he could flee and was handed over to the police.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, while the suspect is being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The motive behind the horrific crime is still unknown, as neighbours said the couple were quiet and easy-going.
“We don’t know what happened between the two lovers that would make him cut off the head of his girlfriend and mother of his child,” a resident told newsmen.
“The two of them were quiet and easy-going. We are at a loss as to what went wrong. The headless corpse of the lady was evacuated and deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa while the arrested boyfriend is in custody of the police in Yenagoa.”
The police spokesman in the state, ASP Musa Muhammed, confirmed the incident and said the command would issue a statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, a member of the community, Ebi Akuna, alleged that the suspect is a runaway soldier and drug addict.
According to Mr. Akuna, the suspect’s father is from Benin City, Edo State while his mother hails from Kabeama.
