MayDay: ‘Nepa’ Falls Down From Ladder During Match-Past

A worker from the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) suffered a fall during a parade yesterday at Lekan Salami stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State on Monday.

The incident occurred as the worker was climbing a ladder to demonstrate the union’s activities as part of the Workers’ Day celebration.

Workers’ Day is an annual event that honours the contributions of workers in Nigeria.

According to an eyewitness, who spoke to reporters, the affiliated unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress were taking turns to march past the audience, which included the state governor, Seyi Makinde.

“When NUEE came up, they brought a ladder and one of them went up to show how they usually disconnect electricity supply.

As he was doing that, and everyone was applauding him, the ladder suddenly snapped and he fell down.

“I don’t know what happened to him afterwards. But they quickly rescued him and took him away,” the eyewitness said.
