Moroccan talisman Sofiane Boufal has apologised to the African continent for shunning their support following Morocco’s round of 16 victory over Spain.
The Anger’s of Ligue 1 midfielder had, in a post-match interview, claimed the victory over Spain was for the Arab continent and Moroccans.
Following a backlash from many African fans who had keenly supported the Moroccan team, Sofiane Boufal has taken time to recant his earlier error.
“Sorry for forgetting to mention all of the African continent yesterday in the post-match interview. Thank you for being behind us. I also dedicate the victory to you, of course. We are proud to represent all our brothers on the continent. Together”, he said.
