Mother Of Three Found Dead In Gutter, Police Launch Investigation
A shocking discovery was made on Sunday morning, when the decomposing body of a mother of three was found dumped in a gutter along Akali street in Etegwe area of Yenagoa, the State capital. The woman, identified as Ese, was a trader of cow skin at the Opolo market.
According to the spokesperson of the Bayelsa Police Command, ASP Musa Mohammed, a police team has removed the corpse and commenced investigations into the death of the woman. He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that no suspect has been arrested yet, but the police are working to trace those responsible for her demise.
Eyewitnesses reported that the woman’s body was emitting an offensive odor from the drainage where she was discarded. They also noticed signs of strangulation on her neck, suggesting that she was killed before being dumped into the gutter.
Residents of Akali street said that Ese hailed from Egbo community in Delta and had separated from her husband in April 2023. They expressed shock and sadness over her death and called for justice. They also appealed to the authorities to improve the security and sanitation of the area.
