Mr. Ibu: Bukola Saraki Foundation Clears Bills Of Ailing Actor

The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation (ABS Foundation) has come to the aid of Mr. John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, a veteran Nollywood actor and comedian who has been battling with health issues.

The foundation, which is headed by former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, announced on Wednesday that it had settled the entire medical expenses of Mr. Ibu, who was diagnosed with a kidney problem and had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Lagos.

The foundation said it was honoured to have extended support to Mr. Ibu, who has entertained millions of Nigerians and Africans with his hilarious roles in movies and television shows for over 40 years.

The foundation also urged other well-meaning Nigerians to join hands and assist Mr. Ibu in any way they could, whether through financial donations, moral encouragement, or prayers.

“We wish him a swift and complete recovery,” the foundation said in a statement.

Mr. Ibu, who is known for his comic portrayal of a dim-witted and gullible character, has featured in hundreds of films, including Mr. Ibu (2004), Mr. Ibu in London (2004), Police Recruit (2003), and 9 Wives (2005).

He is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential comedians in Nigeria and Africa.

He has won several awards, including the Best Actor in Comedy at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2014.

He is married to Stella Maris Okafor and has four children.
