N-Power Set to Settle Eight-Month Outstanding Payments

Akindele Egbuwalo, the National Programme Manager of N-Power, has revealed plans to resolve the eight-month outstanding payments for Batch C beneficiaries.

The N-Power program was temporarily suspended by the Federal Government last week due to issues like ghost beneficiaries and withheld funds by some consultants.

This program, initiated during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, aimed to combat youth unemployment, providing beneficiaries with a monthly stipend of N30,000.

Akindele announced that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has successfully recovered some of the owed funds.

During a meeting with N-Power beneficiaries’ representatives, Akindele assured them, saying, “The good news is that the funds have been reclaimed, and you’ll soon receive your overdue payments.”

He also mentioned that Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has been diligently addressing program irregularities and other social investment programs, restoring confidence in the government’s ability to provide social safety nets to the public.

Akindele emphasized that the issues hindering the program’s smooth implementation, such as unpaid monthly allowances and outdated consultant contracts, are being resolved with the recovered funds.

However, he called for patience from young Nigerians, as the restructuring of the program is in their best interest and will lead to its expansion to accommodate millions of young people. He assured everyone of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating poverty and delivering on this promise.
