Naira Marley, Sam Larry in police custody over Mohbad’s death

The Lagos State Police Command has secured a court order to detain singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, for 21 days in connection with the death of fellow singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

The duo appeared before a Magistrate Court in Yaba on Wednesday, where the police filed an application for their remand pending the completion of their investigation into the controversial incident that claimed Mohbad’s life.

The police said they have evidence linking Naira Marley and Sam Larry to the crime scene and the cause of Mohbad’s death.

The Magistrate, Adela Olatunbosun, granted the police application but reduced the remand period from 30 days to 21 days. She said the court would review the case after the expiration of the remand order.

Naira Marley and Sam Larry have denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death and pleaded not guilty to the charges. They were represented by their lawyers who argued that they were innocent until proven guilty.

The case has generated a lot of reactions from fans and celebrities who have expressed their condolences to Mohbad’s family and demanded justice for his death. Some have also called for the release of Naira Marley and Sam Larry, claiming that they are being framed by the police.
