NASR, Bundies Care Marks World Oral Health Day in Kwara

As part of the activities to commemorate World Oral Health Day, the National Action for Sugar Reduction(NASR ) coalition of Non-governmental organizations, Bundies Care Support Initiative; one of its members commemorates, World Oral Day Day in Ilorin, Kwara State in Collaboration with UNESCO  Associated Schools Network(Aspnet), Nigeria Dental Association Kwara State Branch, and Medical Women Association of Nigeria Kwara Branch to sensitize &  create awareness on Oral health and hygiene and the benefits of reducing Suger Sweetened Beverages (SSB) and the skills required for proper oral hygiene.
The program had in attendance The Executive Director of Bundies Care Support Initiative, Funmi Adefila-Osiegbu, and The Honourable Commissioner for Education who was represented by the Unesco Focal person in Kwara State Mr. Taiye Odediji, The Kwara State Chairman of the Nigerian Dental Association,  Dr. Adeyemi, The president of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria Kwara Branch Dr. Mrs. Alatishe.
The program brought together schools, students, and teachers from across three local governments of the state. and other relevant stakeholders in a bid to be impacted on what needs to be done to stay healthy orally. Speaking at the event, the representative of the Nigeria Dentist association demonstrated to the audience the best oral practices, how to clean the mouth, and how best to protect against tooth decay among others. She also highlighted the theme for this year’s program: Be Proud of Your Mouth – with a focus on the importance of caring for your mouth at every stage of life. 
The participants shared their delights about the program with many displaying enthusiasm for what they have learned at the event. Participants were also gifted a toothbrush and toothpaste as souvenirs. The event also had a free dental check-up for all participants.
