NUC Approves 13 New Programmes In KWASU

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 13 new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to be offered by Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.

According to a statement made by Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the acting director of university relations at the institution, the approval was signed by the acting executive secretary of the commission, Abubakar Girei, as the acting director of academic planning for the NUC, in a letter addressed to the vice-chancellor.

Of the programs offered, two are undergraduate and the remaining eleven are postgraduate.

B.HIM Health Information Management and B.Sc. Development Studies are the recognized undergraduate programs. LL.M. and Ph.D. in Common Law, LL.M. and Ph.D. in Islamic Law, and MLIS and Ph.D. Library and Information Science are the accepted postgraduate programs.

The remaining degrees are in the following fields: public sector accounting, development finance, medical laboratory science, human kinetics, special education, and M.Sc.

The letter specified that the programs will be offered full-time and that they will start in the 2024–2025 academic year.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed enthusiasm about the new programs starting at the university in response to the NUC approval. He thanked the state government for helping to accomplish this, and he acknowledged the staff of the institution for their unwavering commitment to accepting new programs and making greater contributions to the development of human capital.
