Oba Nightclub Attack Leaves 7 Dead, Many Wounded

A violent attack on a nightclub in Oba, a town in Idemili South local government area of Anambra State, resulted in the death of at least seven people and the injury of several others.

The attack occurred at Porsche Nightclub, a semi urban establishment located about ten kilometers away from the commercial city of Onitsha.

The motive of the attack is unclear, but sources said that the attackers attempted to abduct the owner of the club, who was present at the time of the attack, and met resistance from security personnel on duty.

The attackers then opened fire indiscriminately, killing and injuring many people. One of the victims was reportedly decapitated by the attackers.

The incident was confirmed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Ikenga said: “The incident happened. Our men were notified and they quickly arrived at the scene of the incident, but the attackers had already escaped.

“Our men have retrieved the corpses of the vigilante operatives who were killed, while others who were injured are receiving treatment.

“We have also fully mobilized our men to Oba, and the operation is in progress. No arrest has been made yet”.

According to sources, the attackers came to the nightclub claiming that they wanted to kidnap the club owner, but security personnel opposed them.

The attackers then resorted to shooting randomly, causing many casualties.”
