Argentine and Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi has claimed his Eighth Ballon d’Or, edging out Manchester City striker, Erling brat Haaland.
Messi, who moved from Paris saint Germain to Inter Miami in the summer, retained the prestigious award on Monday, breaking his own record set in 2021 when he won the Ballon d’Or for the seventh time.
Messi won his first world cup with Argentina in December 2022, helping the country’s national team beat France to lift the World Cup Trophy.
He also the best player in the tournament which make him won 2022 World Cup Golden Ball.
Other nominees are Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, De Bruyne, Rodrigo and Vinicius Junior.
