“Osogbo Faces Security Crisis as Amotekun and NIS Clash Erupts”

Reports indicate that a clash took place on Wednesday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, causing significant concern among residents.

The clash involved the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), commonly known as Amotekun, and the Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS).

However, the incident unfolded in front of the Amotekun head office situated in the Government House Annex building in Osogbo’s Oke-Fia area.

The clash escalated into a tense exchange of gunfire, resulting in fear and apprehension among local residents. To prioritize safety, shop owners in the vicinity promptly closed their businesses and evacuated the premises.

As of now, the exact cause of the clash remains unknown. However, our correspondent present at the scene observed that the leadership of both agencies was engaged in a meeting within the premises of the Amotekun head office.

The area contained four patrol vans from the NIS, indicating the presence of NIS operatives, while Amotekun personnel were also on-site.

Unfortunately, attempts to gather information from the operatives of both agencies proved unsuccessful, as our correspondent was denied access to the meeting room.

Further updates will be provided as the situation continues to develop.
