President Tinubu Considers New Ministries in Cabinet Reshuffle

In Abuja on Thursday, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, revealed that the administration is considering the creation of new ministries from the existing ones.

The ministerial list, which includes 28 nominees, was presented to the National Assembly on the same day by Gbajabiamila and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

According to Gbajabiamila, President Tinubu intends to either restructure the current ministries or establish new ones, leading to the emergence of ministries that did not previously exist as standalone entities. The process of forming the cabinet is ongoing.

The list of minister-nominees comprises individuals such as Abubakar Momoh, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Ahmed Dangiwa, Hannatu Musawa, Chief Uche Nnaji, Dr Betta Edu, Dr Doris Aniche Uzoka, David Umahi, and Nyesom Wike, among others.

However, Gbajabiamila explained that the nominees underwent rigorous personal screening by the President before their selection.

He further mentioned that a second part of the list, consisting of approximately 12 to 13 names, will be sent to the Senate soon as part of the cabinet formation process.

The President chose not to assign specific portfolios to the nominees in the letter sent to the Senate, following a traditional approach, allowing room for potential revisions.

This decision avoids pigeonholing candidates into specific offices, which could create complications if the President decides to make changes later on.
