Rafiu Ajakaye: ENetSuD’s Social Media Strategy Undermine Its Credibility

Kwara State – Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, has launched a sharp critique against the Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD).

Ajakaye blames the civic group for losing its focus on impactful governance and instead engaging in counterproductive social media confrontations and political theatrics.

According to Ajakaye, ENetSuD has become entangled in “who we are” and “how we feel” conversations, rather than addressing the more critical “what’s this really about?” discussions essential for impactful governance.

However, Ajakaye argues that the group’s current activities are diminishing its respect among serious-minded observers and stakeholders.

“The once-focused civic group has succumbed to social media praise-singing and now indulges in puerile engagements,” said Ajakaye. “Its interactions are increasingly characterized by foul language and social media dragging, raising questions about its sincerity and apolitical stance.”

Ajakaye expressed concern over ENetSuD’s recent communications, comparing its language to that of political parties, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He criticized the group’s leadership, notably Dr. Abdullateef Alagbonsi and Lanrey Osho, for resorting to baseless name-calling and disrespectful rhetoric.

“This sanctimonious attitude is becoming ENetSuD’s trademark, creating a perception crisis within important circles,” Ajakaye noted. “Future governors of Kwara may view the group with caution, questioning its intentions and methods.”

Ajakaye’s critique highlights a broader issue of civic groups balancing advocacy with maintaining credibility and respect. He cautioned ENetSuD against presenting itself as a band of “all-correct saints” and stressed the importance of constructive engagement over theatrical and petty disputes.

As ENetSuD navigates this criticism, the group faces a choice: to refocus on impactful governance conversations or continue down a path that could undermine its credibility and effectiveness.
