Ritual Killers Strike Again: 8-Year-Old Schoolgirl Found Dead With Missing Body Parts

The residents of Odootu/Odogbe community in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State are living in fear after the gruesome murder of an 8-year-old schoolgirl by suspected ritual killers.

The victim, identified as Oluwaseun Olatunji, was a pupil of St. Joseph’s African Church Primary School. She was reportedly kidnapped and killed during school hours on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

According to PRISTINEGIST, an online news platform, Oluwaseun went to the toilet within the school premises and did not return to her class. Her mutilated corpse was later discovered by some teachers and students, with some of her body parts, including both wrists and feet, chopped off.

A resident of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, sent a photo of the horrific scene to PRISTINEGIST. The photo, which is too graphic to be published, shows the lifeless body of the young girl lying in a pool of blood, with visible signs of torture and mutilation.

The resident said that the community is in shock and grief over the incident, and called on the authorities to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This is a wicked act. How can someone do this to an innocent child? What did she do to deserve this? We are afraid for our lives and our children. We don’t know who is next. The government and the police should do something to stop these ritual killers. They are terrorizing our community and we can’t sleep at night,” the resident said.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incident and said that it has launched a manhunt for the suspects. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the case.

“The CP has directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) to take over the case and ensure that the culprits are apprehended and brought to book. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects. He assured the residents of the community that the police will not rest until justice is done,” Oyeyemi said.

He also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and monitor the movement of their children and wards, especially when they are going to or returning from school.
