In a chilling revelation that has sent shockwaves through the community, 39-year-old fruit seller Dolapo Babalola has been unmasked as the mastermind behind a series of brutal killings. Babalola, who was apprehended by authorities, confessed to the cold-blooded murder of several individuals, including close friends and relatives, in a gruesome ritualistic spree that spanned across multiple states.
The nefarious activities of Babalola came to light when he was paraded alongside his accomplices, including herbalists and 16 other criminal suspects, at the state police headquarters in Akure. The suspect’s modus operandi involved luring victims with the pretence of a motorcycle ride, only to savagely attack them if they recognized him, ultimately dismembering their bodies for ritualistic purposes.
Babalola’s reign of terror, which began in 2021, claimed the lives of five individuals, including his cousin and an intimate friend. His confession detailed the harrowing fate of his victims, who were bludgeoned with sticks and stones before having their body parts severed for rituals.
In a separate but equally horrifying account, Quadri Lawal, another suspect, admitted to decapitating a victim and distributing the severed head for ritualistic use. Lawal’s gruesome discovery of a woman’s lifeless body led to the extraction of body parts at the behest of an herbalist known as Oluawo.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladapo, disclosed the extensive investigation that unearthed Babalola’s heinous acts, including the exhumation of a commercial motorcyclist’s body and the retrieval of stolen motorcycles linked to the crimes. The police’s relentless pursuit also led to the arrest of a suspected assassin, implicated in over 500 killings, highlighting a deep-seated network of violence and ritualistic practices.
As the community grapples with the harrowing details of these crimes, the police force remains vigilant, determined to bring all perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of safety to the shaken residents.
