Sanctuary Swindler Strikes: Man Steals 7 Phones In Church

In a brazen act of sacrilege, Babatunde Olaoluwa, a man with a history of targeting worship centers, was seized by the vigilant Ekiti State Police Command. Olaoluwa’s latest heist saw him pilfering seven phones from unsuspecting members of the Christ Apostolic Church in Ayegbaju-Ekiti, exploiting the congregation’s devotional trance to execute his theft.

The cunning suspect, who masqueraded as a parishioner, capitalized on the churchgoers’ spiritual fervor to make off with their mobile devices. DSP Sunday Abutu, the Ekiti Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that upon interrogation, Olaoluwa confessed to a spree of similar crimes in the region, with churches in Oye and Ayegbaju-Ekiti falling prey to his ploys.

The investigation peeled back layers of Olaoluwa’s operation, revealing a network that stretched from the pews to the bustling streets of Lagos. The stolen phones were routinely dispatched via motor park couriers to an accomplice in Lagos, who would then sell the devices and funnel the ill-gotten gains back to Olaoluwa through online transfers.

In a turn of events, the seven phones swiped during his last deceitful act were recovered, and the rightful owners have stepped forward to reclaim their property and identify the perpetrator. The police have announced that Olaoluwa will face the full weight of the law as he is arraigned, bringing closure to the victims of his unholy harvest.
