Scandal In The Barracks: Nigerian Army Dismisses Soldier For Having Sex With Colleague’s Wife

In a shocking breach of military conduct, the Nigerian Army has discharged Lance Corporal Abdullahi Ismail following his conviction for engaging in an illicit affair with the wife of a fellow soldier. The incident, which has sent ripples through the ranks, occurred within the confines of the 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State.

Sources close to the matter reveal that Ismail’s dismissal serves as a stark warning against such transgressions, which are reportedly becoming more frequent in military barracks. “The soldier was terminated from service for sleeping with his colleague’s housewife. We’re hopeful this will deter others from engaging in similar misconduct,” a source disclosed.

The case against Ismail was solidified by his previous record of sexual indiscretions, culminating in his recent infraction that directly violates Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The Act stipulates severe penalties for such bbehaviour including imprisonment anddishonourable dischargee from military service.

This incident comes on the heels of another disciplinary action where two soldiers were dismissed for the theft of armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. The soldiers were apprehended with a substantial quantity of stolen cables on April 14, highlighting ongoing challenges within the Army’s ranks.

The Nigerian Army’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct remains unwavering, as evidenced by its recent enforcement actions. These events underscore the institution’s intolerance for any form of misconduct amongst its personnel.
