School Watchman Commits Suicide in GombeSchool
A 38-year-old man, identified as Abdullahi Ardo, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself within the premises of a primary school in Gombe state.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Child Care Development Primary School in Tudun Wada quarters, where Ardo worked as a watchman.
The spokesperson of the Gombe state police command, Mahid Muazu Abubakar, confirmed the incident on his X handle, saying that the deceased used a piece of rag to hang himself from a swinging pole.
Abubakar said the police have launched an investigation into the motive behind the suicide, and appealed to the public to say no to suicide and preach against it.
He also urged anyone who is depressed or facing any challenges to seek help from family, friends, religious leaders or professionals, rather than resorting to taking their own lives.
The police spokesperson expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
