Six postgraduate students at the University are in for a treat as they are set to receive prestigious research grants. This news was confirmed by the school authority at University by Pristinegist during a recent update.

According to a statement signed by Mr. Abdullahi Isiaq Toyin, President of the University of Ilorin Postgraduate Students’ Association, the grants are designed to alleviate financial burdens and ensure a smooth research process for the recipients.

The grants are strategically categorized based on academic levels, catering to both master’s and PhD students.

For master’s level students, the awards are as follows: 200,000 Naira for the first-place recipient, 150,000 Naira for the second, and 100,000 Naira for the third. Meanwhile, at the Ph.D. level, the first-place recipient will be awarded 300,000 Naira, the second 200,000 Naira, and the third 150,000 Naira.

This distribution reflects a commitment to recognizing and supporting academic excellence across different levels of postgraduate studies.

The selection process was thorough, involving a call for proposals from students, followed by a rigorous and transparent screening process. Judges, comprising lecturers within the institution, diligently identified and selected the deserving candidates for these prestigious grants.

The much-anticipated presentation of the grant awards is scheduled to coincide with the POGSASS Fresh Students Orientation program on January 9, 2024.
