Senator Saliu Mustapha’s Commitment to Media Practitioners: Internet Facility Installed for Kwara NUJ

In a gesture aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing the operational burden for journalists, Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has successfully installed and activated an internet facility for the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The installation process, initiated last week, reached its completion with the activation of the facility on Wednesday. This development allows members of the union to seamlessly access wireless internet services, courtesy of a one-year subscription provided by the legislator.

Members of the NUJ in Kwara State have already begun to benefit from this initiative, accessing the facility through their mobile phones.

Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed, the state Chairman of NUJ, expressed relief at the installation and activation of the internet WiFi service, emphasizing the importance of staying connected for journalists to promptly gather and disseminate breaking news to the public.

Ahmed commended Senator Mustapha, also known as the Turaki of Ilorin, for his proactive approach in supporting the progress of the council through various programs and interventions.

However, he recalled Senator Saliu Mustapha‘s announcement during an interactive session with journalists in Ilorin last month, where the senator pledged to procure and install internet facilities at the NUJ Press Centre to facilitate journalists’ operations.

Senator Mustapha, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production and Rural Services, highlighted the significance of the internet facility in aiding journalists to file their stories promptly and efficiently.

Nevertheless, he reiterated that the gesture was aimed at creating a conducive environment for media practitioners and reducing their expenses on internet subscriptions.

Senator Saliu Mustapha assured the NUJ Council of his continued support, pledging to be of assistance whenever needed, thereby reaffirming his commitment to promoting the welfare and professional growth of journalists in Kwara State.
