Kaduna Electric: Soldiers Stormed Our Office, Injured Our Staff
Some soldiers invaded the head office of Kaduna Electric Distribution Company in Kebbi State and beat up the staff.

The invasion was reportedly triggered by the disconnection of power at Dukku Barracks in Birnin Kebbi by the company.

The Head of Corporate Communication of Kaduna Electric, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, expressed his condemnation of the act and said the army did not lodge any complaint or seek any dialogue with the company before resorting to violence.

“We strongly condemn the attack on our staff by some Nigerian Army personnel in Birnin Kebbi.

“Some armed soldiers stormed our premises Saturday afternoon and attacked our staff and customers without any provocation.

“The victims were humiliated and injured by the rampaging soldiers for no reason. Such an act of lawlessness has no place in our civilised society.

‘We want to make it clear that Kaduna Electric cannot provide its services in an unsafe environment. The safety and well being of our staff is a priority.

“We do not accept such harassment of our staff and we will take appropriate legal action to seek justice.”

“A source from the barracks said, “KAEDCO should have been more careful before cutting off power to a whole army formation, given the critical security situation in the country, especially in the north.

“It is very risky and dangerous to leave an army formation like Dukku Barracks, where huge weapons are stored and piled up, in darkness,” the source said.

The military authorities have not yet made any official comment on the matter.
