Student Stabs by Female Neighbour Over Noise Dispute

A shocking incident of violence occurred on Friday morning, January 12, 2024, at the University of Jos campus, where a male student was stabbed by a female neighbour over a noise dispute.

The victim, Julius Nember, also known as Jay Fresh, is a Benue indigene studying at the university. He is currently fighting for his life in hospital, after losing four bags of blood from his chest wound.

According to a Facebook post by Krayzeetee Atuu, who spoke to the victim’s family members, the suspect, who is also a UNIJOS student, locked Julius and his friend in their room with a padlock from outside, claiming that they were making noise.

She later gave someone else the key to open the door when Julius and his friend got angry. When Julius confronted the suspect over her action, she allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife and went back inside.

The suspect has been arrested by the police and is facing charges of attempted murder.

The incident has sparked outrage and sympathy among the online community, who are praying for Julius’ recovery and condemning the senseless act of violence.

As the investigation continues, the university authorities have urged the students to remain calm and peaceful, and to avoid any form of provocation or retaliation.
