Subsidy Removal: Be patient With Tinubu, Oluwo Urges Nigerians

 

Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu while he removes the Petrol subsidy.

The royal father indicated that the elimination of subsidies was a step to avoid rewarding a select few people at the expense of the majority of Nigerians in a statement issued by his press secretary, Alli Ibrahim, and obtained in Osogbo on Friday.

He asserts that many Nigerians will benefit in the long run from the reduction of subsidies, stressing that the country’s people should put up with the current hardship.

The message continued in sections, “The subsidy system is an organised crime to enrich a few rich Nigerians. It’s inimical to the growth and survival of our dear country. No government can survive in Nigeria by paying subsidy on petrol consumption.

Tinubu is a charismatic leader with exceptional administrative skills. The people of Nigeria should be patient with him.

“All of his leading election rivals previously made withdrawal of subsidies a campaign promise for their respective parties. Let’s be sincere and patriotic and aid this government in its endeavors.

Additionally, the monarch asked Tinubu to move quickly with the development of a national remedy that would mitigate the effects of the loss of subsidies on Nigerians.
