In a surprising turn of events, Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka has refused to renew his contract with Kwara United, despite the club offering a significant salary increase.
Adewale, whose contract with Kwara United recently expired, was called in for a new negotiation and a salary increment. However, he opted not to sign a new deal. Sources close to the situation indicate that several top Nigerian clubs are eager to secure Adewale’s services, although no decisions have been finalized.
In a phone call with Pristinegist Online Media, Adewale’s manager confirmed that they would communicate their decision soon. “Presently, Adewale has not renewed his contract with Kwara United,” the manager stated. “Adewale is not just a goalkeeper in Nigeria; he is one of the best, if not the best. He knows what is good for himself, so we are yet to decide on the offers we have on the table.”
Adding to this, the general manager of Kwara United, Bashir Badawiy, also confirmed that Adewale has yet to renew his contract. “We are committed to doing all it takes to retain some of our best players, like Alao Mohammed, to stay in the club,” Bashir Badawiy stated. This development follows a trend at Kwara United, as several players have already left the club, and a few others are yet to renew their contracts.
