Suspected Ritualist Arrested While Attempting to Kill 10-Year-Old Boy in Kwara State

Kwara State, Nigeria — The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended a suspected ritualist in a chilling incident involving a 10-year-old boy. According to a statement by DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the state police command, the incident occurred in the Abab Oke-Foma area of Ilorin.

The victim, Akeem Nurudeen, was hawking pepper when he was lured into a room by the suspect, Isiaka Adeniyi, aged 46. Under the pretext of purchasing pepper, Adeniyi allegedly covered the boy’s face with a cloth and attempted to slaughter him with a knife.

Swift action by vigilant community members led to the suspect’s apprehension. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation. CP Victor Olaiya psc(+), the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, commended the community’s efforts in ensuring justice is served.

“We urge the public to remain calm as we continue our investigation,” said CP Olaiya. “The police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Kwara State.”
