Teenage Trickery Gone Wrong: Trio Boys Nabbed for Kidnap Hoax

In a shocking turn of events, the Delta State Police Command has apprehended three 17-year-old friends for orchestrating a fake kidnapping plot. The teenagers, in a bid to extract money from their parents, staged the abduction of one of their own and successfully extorted N700,000.

SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the police command, detailed the cunning scheme in a statement, revealing the arrest of the trio post-ransom collection. The statement highlighted the audacious nature of the crime, stating, “These three suspects are friends all 17 years old. They conspired and faked the kidnap of one of their friends in Agbor, called the parent of one of them, and demanded a ransom. They were arrested after collecting a ransom of N700,000.”

The community’s reaction has been one of dismay, with calls for calm and a reevaluation of the youth’s approach to success. The prevalent sentiment echoes the dangers of shortcuts to wealth, emphasizing the potential for a “short life” when engaging in such deceitful acts.

As the case unfolds, there is a growing concern that the parents might intervene to prevent the course of justice. However, the consensus remains firm: justice must prevail, serving as a deterrent to such reckless behaviour among the youth.
