Terror in Benue: Gunmen burn down village, displace thousands

A village in Logo Local Government area of Benue state was attacked by unknown gunmen on Thursday, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair.

Residents of Tse Jikina in Mbavuur said the gunmen came without warning and set fire to almost all the houses in the village, forcing them to flee for their lives.

According to Trendygists, over 3000 people have been displaced by the attack, and many have lost their livelihoods and belongings.

A woman who spoke in a video shared by Trendygists said the attackers came and burned down her house while she and her family were still in the farm.

The video also showed how yams and other valuables were consumed in the fire.

The motive behind the attack is still unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for it.

The state government and security agencies have not issued any statement on the incident, and the villagers are appealing for help and protection.

This is not the first time that Logo Local Government area has witnessed such violence. In 2018, the area was the epicenter of clashes between farmers and herdsmen, which claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands more.

The residents of Tse Jikina are calling on the authorities to intervene and stop the bloodshed, and restore peace and security to their community.
