The run for the Qatar 2022 golden boot

Although much of the focus of the 2022 world cup had been on Messi and Ronaldo, and a few stars, however, Ronaldo, Kane, and Neymar will no longer plarticipate at the World Cup, with Portugal, England, and Brazil already knocked out of the world cup. Mbappe, Giroud and Messi are still going strong in Qatar having guide France and Argentina respectively to the semi-finals of the competition. While Messi and Giroud boast 4 goals apiece, Mbappe has five to his name. The Paris Saint Germaine’s talisman also has two assists and three man of the match performances to his name.

Like Mbappe, seven time Ballon’d’Or winner, Lionel Messi also has three man of the match awards in his locker, and has continued to prove crucial in Argentina’s heroic run so far.

At 36, Olivier Giroud is having a dream tournament having broken Thierry Henry’s all time goal records for the national team in only two matches into the competition. Interestingly, his part in the competition would have been limited had it not been for the sudden injury to Karim Benzema.

Regardless of the outcome of the semifinals, the three golden boot front runners have two matches to play to decide who takes home the Qatar 2022 golden boot. Nevertheless, we all will be here to see how things turn out in the next couple of days.
