President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate investigation into the accidental bombing of a village in Kaduna State by the Nigerian Army, which resulted in the death of many civilians.

The incident occurred on Sunday, when a military aircraft mistakenly dropped bombs on Tudun Biri in Igabi Local Government Area of the state, killing and injuring several villagers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, the President expressed his sympathy with the families of the victims and the Kaduna State Government, and described the incident as “very unfortunate, disturbing, and painful”.

He also directed swift and comprehensive medical attention for the surviving victims, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

According to PRISTINEGIST, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed that the Army claimed responsibility for the airstrike, and said that the state government was in contact with the military authorities to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

The President assured the people of Kaduna State and the nation that the incident would be thoroughly investigated and that appropriate measures would be taken to prevent a recurrence.

He also appealed for calm and urged the people to cooperate with the authorities as they work to unravel the cause of the mishap.
