Nigerian Actress Jumoke Odetola Laments Lagos Traffic on Instagram

Nigerian actress and film producer Jumoke Odetola, also known as Binta Ofege, has taken to her Instagram page to share her ordeal on 28 April, with the notorious Lagos traffic.

The actress, who has starred in several English and Yoruba movies, posted a video of herself stuck in a gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.

In the caption, she wrote: “Yesterday, I saw there,shege saw me. Today again, the shege continues, shege is looking at me and smiling. Shege is romancing me 😫🥲
How can somebody have long life and prosperity in this Lagos, with this crazy traffic? 🤷‍♀️ Yesterday, I finished work at 4 pm, and I didn’t get home until 2 am (Ajah-Magodo)…10hrs! Lagos to Lagos! The time that could have been put into productive work or relaxation.
This morning again, Lagos- Ibadan Expressway is marking the attendance of wickedness, it’s doing competition of na me wicked pass🥵 Woos, e be like say na to dey sleep for house sure pass. Independent woman in the mud, I no do again🥲🥲🥲”

Shege is a Hausa word that means trouble or problem, while banza means rubbish or nonsense.

The actress used these words to express her frustration with the traffic situation in Lagos, which is known for its congestion and chaos.

Odetola, who was born on 16 October 1988 in Lagos, is a multiple award-winning actresses who has featured in movies such as Somewhere in the Dark, Binta Ofege, Heroes and Zeros, Bachelor’s Eve, and The Village Headmaster. She

has also won several accolades such as the Best Indigenous Language Film at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, the Best Actress at the City People Movie Awards, and the Best Kiss In A Movie at the Best of Nollywood Awards.

The actress is not the only one who has complained about the traffic in Lagos. Many residents and commuters have also voiced their grievances on social media and other platforms.

Some have blamed the poor road infrastructure, the lack of public transportation, and the indiscipline of drivers for the traffic woes.

Others have called on the government to find lasting solutions to ease the movement of people and goods in the megacity.
