Train Crushed Car At Ilupeju Byepass Leaves Four Injured
A car carrying four people collided with a train at a railway crossing in Mushin, Lagos, on Saturday night, leaving the passengers with serious injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was trying to beat the train to the crossing, but miscalculated the speed and distance of the train, which was heading towards Mushin tollgate axis.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was badly damaged and the train derailed. The passengers of the car, three men and a woman, were trapped inside the wreckage and had to be rescued by emergency services.
The woman, who suffered the most injuries, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The other three passengers were also taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the train and the passengers on board were unhurt.
The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and have warned motorists and pedestrians to be careful and observant when approaching railway crossings. They also urged the public to avoid unnecessary haste and risk-taking on the road.
