University Of Ilorin Expels Rusticates 19 Students

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has expelled and rusticated 19 students, including six final-year students, for alleged involvement in various infractions.

The institution’s director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said in a statement on Monday that the vice chancellor, Mr Wahab Egbewole (SAN), approved the expulsion/rustication of the affected students in response to the Students’ Disciplinary Committee’s recommendations at its 220th/221st meeting.

He stated that the affected students were punished for a variety of offenses, including misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion, beating a fellow student, admission racketeering and assault.

He went on to say that the penalties for the students’ offenses ranged from rustication for one semester or one academic session to outright expulsion.

“The affected students were in various academic levels such as 100, 200, 300 and 400 Levels,” he added on to clarify.
