A woman named Anita Ofili was arrested for stabbing her friend, Glory Okon, to death in her apartment
The occupants of the building were alerted by a shout for help from Ofili’s one-room self-contain apartment.
They forced the door open but unfortunately, they discovered Ofili thrusting a kitchen knife into Okon’s neck.
Okon was rushed to the General Hospital on Lagos Island but was confirmed dead.
Ofili revealed that she was murdered because the deceased snatched her boyfriend about ten years ago.
They were friends for close to two decades and had attended the same tertiary institution.
They had a disagreement that tore them apart for about ten years before they reconciled two weeks ago.
However, she had waited for ten years to have her “pound of flesh”.
Ofili had the intention of marrying the boyfriend that the late friend snatched from her, and the action of the friend strained their relationship, causing them to go their separate ways for 10 years.
A team of detectives visited Ofili’s apartment and recovered tramadol they suspected to have been used to drug the deceased.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest of the suspect and that investigations were ongoing.
