#YesDaddy: Rep-elect Sagir Koki mimics Peter Obi phone call with Bishop Oyedepo

Sagir Koki, the House of Representatives member-elect for Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has imitated a conversation between Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Chapel.

An audio of the conversation was leaked on an online news platform on Saturday night, triggering a debate on social media.

Meanwhile, In the audio, Obi sought Oyedepo’s help to mobilize Christian voters in the North-Central states of Kwara, Kogi, and Niger, declaring that the 2023 election is a religious war.

Obi can be heard in the audio repeatedly saying “Yes Daddy” while begging Oyedepo to speak to his Christian followers in the South-West and Kwara. “This is a religious war,” he added, “if this works, you people will never regret the support.”

However, Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign, claimed that the conversation was taken out of context and that Obi meant that the election will be a battle between good governance and corruption.

Koki mimicked Obi’s conversation after presenting his Certificate of Return to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).

The online trendline “YesDaddy” emerged, prompting mixed reactions among Nigerians.

Nevertheless, some people found what koki did amusing, while others criticized Koki for his unprofessional behavior.
